Cost Accountant – North Windham, CT

United Abrasives, Inc., a leader in the abrasives industry with over 50 years of experience in the sales and distribution of products made in the USA, is seeking a skilled Cost Accountant to join our team. Position: Cost Accountant

Location: North Windham, CT

Employment Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and report on manufacturing costs and variances.
• Maintain and reconcile standard cost systems, including material, labor, and overhead.
• Monitor and analyze cost accounting data, including standard costs, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes for inventory and cost accounting.
• Review and analyze inventory transactions, including cycle counts and physical inventories.
• Update and review bills of materials (BOM) to ensure accuracy with actual production.
• Partner with operations to evaluate production costs and process efficiencies.
• Support the development of annual budgets.
• Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to collaborate across departments and with personnel at all levels.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of accounting experience (in a manufacturing environment is a plus)
• Solid knowledge of cost accounting principles and practices.
• Experience with ERP systems preferred, but not required.
