Chief Fiduciary Officer Location Portland, ME (Downtown area) : Description:

We are seeking a Chief Fiduciary Officer at our downtown Portland, ME Trust company. The Chief Fiduciary Officer will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing our fiduciary services, ensuring that we meet the unique financial and estate planning needs of our clients. This integral member of the team will provide strategic leadership to our fiduciary team, oversee compliance, and work closely with clients and their advisors to develop, implement, and administer trust and estate plans while also offering expertise and leadership in fostering strong client relationships, driving business growth, and maintaining the company's reputation for trust and excellence.

In this position you will:

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the fiduciary team, setting clear objectives, and driving a culture of excellence and trust within the department
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, collaborating with clients and their advisors to understand their unique financial goals and needs
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and administration of trust and estate plans, ensuring that they align with clients' objectives and adhere to all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure that all fiduciary services are provided in compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Develop and implement risk management strategies to safeguard clients' assets
  • Recruit, train, and mentor fiduciary team members, fostering their professional growth and expertise in trust and estate planning
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop strategic plans for the fiduciary department and contribute to the company's overall growth and success
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, enhanced client services, and operational efficiency within the fiduciary department
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Law, or a related field
  • JD is preferred
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in trust and estate planning, with a proven track record in fiduciary leadership
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in fiduciary services
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards and client confidentiality
