Visiting Assistant Professor of Writing

Full-Time, 10-Month, Exempt, Salaried, Faculty Appointment

The Writing Department at Colby College has a one-year opening for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Writing for the 2025-26 year. The successful candidate will join a vibrant, WAC-based Writing Department and teach a five-course load of "W1" first-year writing courses (three in fall and two in spring semester).

Candidates must have demonstrated strength and experience teaching first-year writing at the college level; knowledge of composition/writing studies scholarship and pedagogies; experience and willingness to work collaboratively with other faculty in the department; and the ability to work effectively as a member of a diverse community. Ph.D. in Writing Studies or a related field (e.g., English, Composition/Rhetoric) is preferred, though candidates with relevant teaching experience and an M.F.A. in English or Creative Writing will also be considered. The position starts fall 2025.
