Job Description

Experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper At Accounting Elements, we help small businesses thrive with clean books, smart advice, and cloud-based systems. We’re looking for a friendly, detail-oriented bookkeeper with 2–3 years of experience (preferably in an outsourced firm) and strong skills in Xero and/or QuickBooks Online for a part-time (20 hrs/week) position to start, which would become full-time down the road. We would prefer someone who can be available 4 hours M-F during our business hours of 9 AM-6 PM CST, but will be flexible for the right person! If you love numbers, are tech-savvy, are used to juggling multiple competing priorities simultaneously, and are a proactive team player, we want to hear from you! Responsibilities:

  • Code bank feeds, monthly reconciliations, bill pay, invoicing, and payroll processing for multiple clients on a weekly or monthly basis
  • Perform reconciliations for cash and credit accounts, payroll, and other Balance Sheet accounts monthly
  • Solve small mysteries (missing transactions, weird balances) before they become big issues
  • Help cover down for colleagues when they’re out of office (because teamwork makes the dream work)
  • Communicate with clients kindly and professionally via email, Zoom, and Slack
  • Keep financial data organized, accurate, and audit-ready (because messy books are not our vibe)
  • Other duties as needed
Qualifications:
  • 2–3 years of Bookkeeping Experience (outsourced/public accounting firm preferred) with a firm understanding of accrual entries/bookkeeping
  • Full-Charge Bookkeeping experience is a plus
  • Bookkeeping for creatives, design firms, and/or ecommerce businesses is a bonus
  • Tech-savvy, comfortable with cloud-based systems, and a strong internet connection required
  • Experience using Xero, QuickBooks Online, and common cloud-based accounting and finance apps (Hubdoc, Gusto, etc.) – bonus points if you’re Xero Certified!
  • Strong time management and ability to prioritize multiple competing deadline
  • Excellent proactive written and verbal communication in a professional setting
  • Curiosity, resourcefulness, and a genuine team player mentality
