Our strength lies in our proprietary Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) embedded refund protection platform, which provides massive distribution and a top-tier digital purchasing experience for insurance carriers, event organizers, booking platforms, ticketing systems, and their consumers. Our e-commerce solution is embedded in millions of carts each month, and we're seeking a talented Junior QA Engineer to join our high-performing team.

We seek a Junior QA Engineer who will effectively fit into an existing team and contribute to project success. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the quality of our technology stack. As a key member of our quality team, you will learn to define and oversee rigorous testing processes under the guidance of senior QA members. Positivity and alignment with Protecht’s values are essential, as you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our product quality and overall technical excellence.

This is an excellent opportunity to establish your presence at a rapidly growing technology company. We support internal growth across our team and encourage learning. We have seen members of our team grow from QA engineers to development leads.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of core manual testing tasks, including writing and executing basic manual test cases on JIRA tickets, performing manual regression testing on release candidates, and documenting test results.
  • Collaborate with Senior QA Engineers or product owners to create and update test cases in TestRail for new features and releases. Learn to align test plans with user stories and business requirements.
  • Leverage AI-assisted tools to generate comprehensive manual test plans, particularly for complex user flows, based on JIRA ticket descriptions and overall project/feature documentation.
  • Assist with exploratory testing on new and existing features, especially regarding partner site testing.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and DevOps, to understand the software, identify bugs, and ensure that fixes are implemented correctly.
  • Communicate test results and findings to stakeholders, providing feedback and ensuring alignment on project quality standards.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint ceremonies, and QA syncs, providing regular updates on testing progress and issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to think logically and determine test cases from a project description.
  • Ability to learn and apply new testing methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Basic understanding and ability to write code in TypeScript.
  • You don’t need formal QA experience, but you must be technically curious, eager to learn, and excited to grow .
  • This is a remote position. Travel to Protecht Hubs in Phoenix, San Francisco, Denver, Los Angeles, Austin, or Chicago may be required as necessary.

Bonus Skills:

  • Familiarity with manual testing tools and bug tracking systems (e.g., JIRA, TestRail).
  • Basic understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
  • Experience developing with Python, JS, etc.
  • Enthusiasm for learning test automation concepts and frameworks (e.g., Playwright).
  • Interest in experimenting with AI tools for test planning and productivity.

What We Offer:

  • Fully Remote Working Environment
  • Competitive Salary and Equity Opportunities
  • Unlimited Paid Time-off
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Benefits
  • Annual Bonus Program
  • 401k Matching
  • $100/month for Event Ticket Purchase
